The 200 year old Burtner House has 5 fully furnished rooms with an attic and basement. The rooms feature period furniture that may have at one time been original to the house. There are many pictures and artifacts to view that are from the 4 generations for Burtner family members who have lived in the house.
WHAT'S OUTSIDE
Springhouse – We rebuilt the springhouse to appear as it did when the house was completed in 1821. You can view the workings of the springhouse where produce and meats were kept cold and where the Burtner family would draw water for cooking and drinking. You may even see a surprise addition you might not have thought would be in the springhouse!
Festivals
For more than 50 years, The Burtner House has hosted its annual Strawberry Festival. Every June, we celebrate summer and encourage folks to tour the house and grounds while enjoying our homemade Strawberry Shortcakes and ice cream. We have many crafters selling handmade goods, as well as some local authors and food trucks. Civil War reenactors from both the Blue and the Grey are often present with firing demonstrations, as well as an Abraham Lincoln impersonator that is second to none. Face painting and music round out the day.
Every other fall (odd years) we celebrate the harvest with our fall festival. Another opportunity to tour the house and grounds and celebrate life in the 1800s.
